Speed, reliability and scalability have always been the holy trifecta and the main criteria while looking for a hosting service for your website. Today, I have to give kudos to a web hosting company from Europe, Altushost, for providing nothing but high quality service in all of the three mentioned departments.

But before I crank up the volume on my song of praise to Altushost, I have to emphasize one aspect in particular: This Company has been around for only 7 years, and they have more than 10,000 satisfied clients. To be quite honest, this factor alone is good enough for me to give them my trust, but if you are searching for a professional and yet affordable hosting company, read along.

The Fast

Since I had the opportunity to test out both shared hosting and dedicated server plan, I have to say that I am very much impressed with the Altushost’s server response, as well as with their server uptime.

Even though I had a somewhat poorly optimized website that I needed hosting for, with images as big as 500Kb and larger, page loading speed was very much satisfying even from a shared server. For a completely reasonable price of 4.95$ per month to 14.95$, you can get as much as 40GB of space and up to a terabyte of bandwidth.

Although I would never compare a dedicated server, or a VPS to a shared server plan, I have to say that in terms of value and what you can get for the price – the speed of my website was remarkable. With a simple, responsive and optimized website – any startup company would stay on this plan for years. This is why I would always recommend Altushost to any small business looking for a fast and reliable service.

Unlike most of the hosting companies of today which are basically only reselling other companies’ services, Altus uses its own hardware and employs Super Micro servers. So, no outdated servers clogging the traffic and no overloaded servers – both of these aspects I find crucial for delivering the professional looking website fully loaded in under four seconds.

If you want to test the speed of this server, here is a nifty little app which can help you do so.

The Reliable

A good customer support is always a plus! One of the reasons why I had one of the most satisfying experiences in Ecommerce web hosting (for me), is the fact that they migrated my website from my previous hosting company to theirs – with no charge whatsoever. The process was as simple as going through ten minutes of formalities all together. This was something that I was really worried about, so having this task performed by someone else, who actually carried out everything in a very professional manner, was a big plus for me.

I mentioned that I am also very much impressed with their uptime- which I definitely am. Because, even though I don’t want to point fingers at any somewhat larger companies in the business (which are simply not capable of providing a quality service in this area), Altus was once again a total hit.

They actually brag about having their servers up for 99.9% of the time, and while I found this remark slightly amusing I have to say that this statement is also very much true.

An SSL encryption is considered as a standard today, and even in this department the Altus provides a top-notch service. Consumers nowadays are simply looking for that SSL logo on the website if they are leaving their credit card numbers and personal data, so I find this addition to be almost compulsory.

So having a stable, safe and constant connection with a team of experts ready to help me out – that is pretty much what I was looking for and I am happy to say that Altushost delivered.

The Scalable

While most users will probably choose VPS hosting, I had the privilege of testing out a dedicated server. We will discuss prices more thoroughly in a bit, but for now, I just want to share my excitement and say why this plan is simply offering the best ROI on the market.

I’ve had the pleasure of testing out one of the standard servers from their offer, and I have to say that these guys could probably market themselves better if they just clearly stated that they are offering a remote team of experts included in their service.

Because it really felt like having a team of professionals working for you, available 24/7.

They took care of the entire setup, no troubleshooting happened at all (but they reassured me that they are ready for every possible scenario); and they even went beyond and managed everything in a very responsible and professional manner.

If you require a large scale of operations and your business is growing, I cannot express how much a dedicated server is important to keep your customers happy. While a transition of this sort may seem a little bit frightening, the team and the experience of Altushost will definitely help you make it as smooth as possible.

The Price is great!

When you compare Altushost to other hosting companies, you may find solutions that are offering more-or-less the same services for the roughly same price. However, I doubt that any of them can match the quality of service which this company provides.

Their basic packages start from 4.95$ for a regular type, shared hosting with 250GB of space, while the finest ones offer a great variety of services. Conclusive with a premium account dedicated server, for a total of 499.95$ USD, which comes with 96 GB of RAM, 4x 480 GB SSD, a total of 30 terabytes of bandwidth etc. There are few companies that can match this offer in terms of prices, and there are none that will provide the best value for that kind of money.

Conclusion

10.000 clients can’t be wrong. I guess a server located in Sweden and Netherlands may present a sort of an issue for certain markets, but none that I am aware of. That is the only con that I deem worth mentioning, but you can find that speedometer in the section above and check whether Altushost does it for you.

Other than that – I would highly recommend this company and I will refer it to anyone looking for a fast, reliable and scalable hosting provider that can actually help your company grow.

  1. Hey Marcus,

Nice review. I was recently on a lookout for new hosting for my website and I ran into AltusHost review on hostadvice.com. After browsing thorough internet and summing up the user experience I decided to give them a go.
I went for the cheapest one (my website is not too big, a personal blog it is) for $4.95 USD a month. To be honest, I’m quite pleased so far.
The response times are good, I was able to manually adjust the size of the file size upload, everything I need. My WordPress updates automatically through Softaculous and it notifies me immediately.
As for the server uptime, it is as you say, for 3 months (that’s how long I’ve been using their services) there have been 0 issues.
The only thing I’d like to address is that for the price they could have given a bit more than 10GB, but given the quality of the service and the fact that I won’t need more than that for a long time, I figure it’s not actually a flaw.

    Hi Nigel,

Thanks for reading Technivorz and for participating. A friend of mine recommended Altus to me. I was reluctant to try them out at first. But, then I had a little project and decided I could host it on their servers. Suffice to say I was pleased :).
Best of luck with your website!

    Marcus

  3. Hi friend,
Do they offer one click installation of content management systems like WordPress? I’m building a niche site about making money on internet and i’m looking for affordable hosting that support WordPress. Also, do they make backups of your website?

    Thanks and Regards,
    Itender Barot

Yes, they do offer one click installation of all the popular CMSs through Softaculous. Take a look at this link – https://www.altushost.com/netherlands-web-hosting/ – you will find the answers to all your question.

  5. I’m an Altus user since 2012. Can’t say it has been a smooth ride all the way, especially during 2013 when they experienced numerous hacking attempts. However, their service has been improving ever since. Now, response times, up-time, overall stability and accessibility are on level with some bigger companies I’ve been using as well.

  6. Tell me please are you using VPS or shared hosting?

  7. I’m using shared hosting for a relativelly medium-sized e-commerce website. Their Tera-package. Why do you ask?

  8. I need a good and reliable VPS server and a company which has responsive live support in case something should go wrong, because it always does. I mean, there is no such thing as a 100% reliable server or a 99% uptime, even google avoids such claims, let alone smaller companies.

  9. Unfortunately I cant help you with the VPS part, but I can confirm that the guys from support are quite expeditious and pleasant to work with. I had problems connecting Jetpack plugin with wordpress.com because the server wasn’t allowing access to wordpress.com (it got back a 404 response). Contacted live support and it was fixed in 12h or so, I don’t remember exactly as it was a year ago.
