People have always been intrigued by the idea of building a robot that’s smarter than any human being out there. Even though this sounds like something we’re more likely to see in a Sci-fi movie, it’s this ideal that lies behind the latest artificial intelligence (AI) advancements. And even though technologists dream about AIs that could aid in scientific advancement of the human race, there’s always the fear of creating something so powerful can be lethal for the entire planet. Luckily, there’s no reason to worry as we’re not as close to such a scenario as one would’ve imagined and AIs are still all about making our life easier.

One Area of Intelligence AIs

Today, any major expansions in the world of AI could lead to huge changes in our everyday lives. However, most of the AIs we have today have expertise in just a single area of intelligence. For example, we now have smart chess boards that can beat just any human chess player brave enough to challenge them. But still, that’s the only thing this device can do. This just shows us how far we are from having robots that are smarter than us. But even the AIs specialized in just a single area can have a huge impact on our world. And that’s exactly what internet AIs have managed to do.

AIs Collecting Data

One of the most intriguing things about AIs and internet is the fact that they can now collect data and shape user’s experience according to their behavioral patterns. And big companies such as Facebook and Google are today adapting this technology as much as possible. Just take a look at Google’s revolutionary new algorithm called RankBrain that creates unique search engine queries and provides you with customized search results. As for Facebook, it has been announced this platform will start to use AI to sort items in users’ news feeds. Furthermore, many other companies such Netflix and Amazon have already adapted  AI technologies that help them target users and provide them with the content they’re looking for.

AIs and eCommerce

Having said that AIs today collect your browsing data, it’s obvious eCommerce websites can benefit the most from implementing these technologies in their business. They now have AIs that observe their visitors’ behavior and display the products they’re most likely to buy. This option is what automated the world of eCommerce and made it much easier for online stores to find new and retain their old customers. It’s also important to mention that this is much cheaper and more convenient way of running an online store than having real people do it.

Other AI Uses in the World of Internet

Of course, eCommerce isn’t the only area AI found its use in, when it comes to internet. There are more and more startups coming up with new uses of AI and creating internet a better place for business. For example, let’s take a look at Grind, the website building software to start using AI to automate the process of web design. They can now deliver you a stunning website in no more than just a couple of minutes. Another example worth mentioning is Wordsmith, a platform designed to turn data into readable narratives. And not to mention that many business are now using AI-based applications for improving their social media presence.

There’s no doubt the internet is the fastest-growing industry of today. And with AI advancements like this, we can only expect it to start growing even faster and completely shape the way we live. Let’s just hope any major expansions will only have a positive effect on the world we live in and no side effects will be experienced.
